The Student Lab: A.T. Kearney and Carnegie Mellon The Student Lab: A.T. Kearney and Carnegie Mellon

The Student Lab, created by A.T. Kearney and Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School of Business, involves teams of students working with A.T. Kearney clients to solve real-world business challenges.

The Student Lab is a collaborative initiative that brings A.T. Kearney, our clients, and leading business schools together to enhance the education and professional development of future industry leaders. Over the course of a semester, diverse groups of students from prestigious universities around the world address real-world business issues from executives at leading companies. The program also provides the opportunity for participating companies to build a community of accomplished and energetic students and an engaged faculty—while benefiting from innovative solutions to some of their most pressing issues.

In short, it's bringing the boardroom into the classroom—and creating a unique learning experience that goes far beyond lectures and textbooks. "It's the mix of people [that students] have to work with. Each has an agenda. Everyone has time constraints. Data may or may not be available. The expectations vary. That's the real world, right?" explains Joe Raudabaugh, partner at A.T. Kearney. "You can't get that out of a case. You can only get it from working with people."

Since the program's inception in 2007, it has spread to eight business schools in the United States, Canada, and Europe, with more schools added every year. More than 1,200 students and 70 companies have participated in the program to date. "All the clients I've introduced to this course have come back to do it again," adds Joe.
