Peter MunroPeter Munro

Peter is a Partner of A.T. Kearney and has been with the Firm for over 10 years.  He heads up the Financial Institutions Group and is the ANZ Unit Leader based in the Sydney office.

Peter has 17 years of management consulting experience for corporate clients in financial services, telecommunications and manufacturing.  His expertise is in corporate and business strategy and implementation, organisation and process design.

Peter has managed multiple performance improvement programs for a number of financial institutions in Australasia and Asia.  He led engagements at these organisations to improve their competitive cost position, better understanding customer needs to improve the attractiveness of product and service offerings, channel management and organisation design.

Prior to joining A.T. Kearney in 1998, Peter was a senior investment manager at Telecom New Zealand responsible for developing business unit growth strategies and managing major acquisitions. Peter also spent nine years with Boston Consulting Group, in Germany and Australasia.

Peter holds a BSc (Hons) in Electronics from the University of Kent, and an MBA from INSEAD in France.

In his spare time, Peter enjoys playing tennis and trying to beat his daughter at Sudoko.

 

Phil Harkness

Phil Harkness
Phil is a Partner in the Melbourne Office for A.T. Kearney. He has provided Strategic and Operational advice to a wide range of industries including Financial Institutions, Utilities, Manufacturing, Retailing, Mining, Chemicals, Consumer Goods and Government.

Prior to joining A.T. Kearney, Phil worked with the Agricultural division of Bunge (Aust) Pty Ltd for three years running their Stockfeed Mill in Ballarat.  He then moved to Philip Morris Ltd where he worked for three years in Distribution and Industrial Relations.

Phil joined Pappas Carter Evans and Koop (which later became The Boston Consulting Group) in 1986 and worked as a Strategy and Organisation consultant until 1990.  He was then a Director of Australian Consulting Partners, offering Strategy and Operational advise to major Corporates for 9 years. Phil then moved to Arthur Andersen where he headed their consulting practice in Melbourne for 2 ½ years.

Phil graduated in Agricultural Science from LaTrobe University in 1980. He completed his MBA from University of Melbourne in 1985 where he won the CRA prize for Business Policy 

Phil is a Director of Rubicon Systems Australia – a supplier of channel gates and control systems to the irrigation industry around the world, and is also an Executive Board member for the Committee for Melbourne. 

Phil is married to Rose and has three children.

 

Jeremy Barker

Jeremy Barker
Jeremy is a Partner in the Sydney office of A.T. Kearney, a member of the firm’s leadership team for Sustainability and a Director on the global A.T. Kearney Board.  He has over fifteen years experience consulting to clients throughout the Asian region.

Jeremy’s functional focus is on organic and inorganic growth strategies and sustainability.  He works with clients on developing and implementing profitable growth strategies which have increasingly come to incorporate sustainability as a key consideration.  His clients include Private Equity firms and leading companies in the Food & Beverage, Retail, Banking, Insurance and Transportation sectors.

Prior to consulting Jeremy was an Economist including a role as a Departmental Liaison Officer for the NSW Minister for Finance. Given his ongoing policy interests, he has continued to work with local and state government agencies and the not-for-profit sector during his consulting career. 

Jeremy earned an economics degree from the University of New England, is a FINSIA graduate and has completed an Executive program within the MBA School of the University of Michigan.

Jeremy is married with two young children and with his partner, has a love of renovating 19th century houses to their former glory.  Life’s pleasures include travel, photography, good company, wine and food – and cheering Australia on in cricket and rugby.

Simon MezgerSimon Mezger
Simon is a senior Strategy Partner in the Melbourne office of A.T. Kearney Australia.  In this role he leads the practice M&A activity and has co-ordination responsibility for all Merger Integration activities across South Asia. 

Simon has extensive consulting experience in growth and mergers and acquisitions for both corporate and financial investors. He covers all aspects from target identification commercial due diligence and portfolio improvement for Private Equity firms.  He has supported the growth aspirations of some of Australia’s leading corporations from organic to inorganic and led multiple large scale merger integrations. 

Simon has supported clients throughout Asia and Europe leading multiple domestic and cross border integrations. 

In addition, Simon has spent a significant portion of his consulting career advising clients on operational improvements and top line growth on a stand-alone basis.  He possesses strong industry experience in construction, consumer goods, mining, automotive, telecommunications, transportation, and process industries. 

Simon holds an M.B.A, a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne. 

In his spare time Simon enjoys open water swimming and skiing, not to mention a good red and a book.

 

Terry InnerstTerry Innerst
Terry is a Partner in the Sydney office of A.T. Kearney in Australia.  He heads the Operations Practice for South East Asia, the supply chain and manufacturing practice in Australia, and co-leads the consumer practice.  Since he joined over 12 years ago he has worked almost exclusively in Operations, both in Australia and in North America. 

In recent years he has developed a strong practice and offering in Australia – primarily focused on operations work in the Consumer Goods industry.  He also has experience in other sectors such as mining and process industries, and in other topic areas such as merger integration, due diligence, and portfolio improvement in PE.  He has a mix of strong local and global clients in Australia and New Zealand.

Outside of work, Terry spends his time with his wife and 2 year old son.  There were hobbies before his son was born, but the memories are fading.  When Terry returned from paternity leave where he was the primary carer, he decided that consulting is a much easier job.

 

James Deighton

James Deighton
James Deighton is a Partner in the Melbourne office and a leader in the Financial Services practice. He has over  20 years of consulting and operational experience in Australia, Asia and the Middle East.  

James has worked closely with major financial services organizations in developing their corporate and growth strategies; designing operations strategies; undertaking operations improvement programs focused on cycle time reduction and improving the customer experience; and designing innovative approaches to increasing the effectiveness of distributed sales forces. 

Prior to joining A.T. Kearney, James was a co-owner of the consulting firm, Business Development Partners for 6 years.

 James was an investment banker for 4 years with Deutsche Bank, a management consultant with McKinsey & Company for 5 years and worked with ABB and Bunge. 

James completed an MBA from the Melbourne Business School where he was a Rupert Murdoch Scholar and won the CUB Prize for final year distinction and the Amcor prize for Operations Management.  James also holds a BSc from the University of Melbourne. 

James is married and has four children, so life on the home front is important and enjoyable.  James is a keen, but slow, cyclist and enjoys the great outdoors.
